TL;DR
Laser Process Engineer (III-V Semiconductor): Delivering and scaling volume-capable processes for III-V active-device fabrication in a cleanroom production environment with an accent on process performance, yield improvement, and robust process control. Focus on analyzing fabrication data, solving root-cause and reliability issues, qualifying tooling, and transferring laser technologies into high-volume manufacturing.

Location: Springtown, Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. On-site, full-time role working 39 hours per week. Travel is not required.

What you will do

  • Develop, refine, scale, and qualify volume-capable processes for III-V active-device fabrication.
  • Monitor process performance, analyze data, improve yield, and implement root-cause and corrective-action measures.
  • Establish robust process-control systems and support laser performance and reliability targets.
  • Plan projects and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support tooling installations, qualifications, daily production workflow, operational efficiency, and cycle-time improvements.
  • Transfer technologies from the laser development team into volume manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of semiconductor laser processing technologies and fabrication interactions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and technical-writing skills.
  • MSc or PhD in electrical/electronic engineering, physics, chemistry, photonics, optoelectronics, or semiconductor materials and engineering; alternatively, a relevant BSc with one year of manufacturing or academic experience, or at least three years of manufacturing experience with another engineering or science qualification.
  • Full right-to-work documentation for the United Kingdom is required.
  • Proficiency with coding and statistical-analysis software such as JMP, R, or Python.

Nice to have

  • Experience in wafer fabrication or III-V material engineering.
  • Experience scaling technologies for high-volume manufacturing.
