What you will do

• Define and develop functional and technical safety concepts based on product architecture, technology, and intended functionality.
• Develop, review, and manage safety requirements and work products for IP, SoC, software, and system levels.
• Perform safety analyses at IP and product levels, including FTA, DFA, and FMEDA.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, implementation, and other cross-functional teams to implement safety concepts.
• Define and review safety verification and validation strategies, report compliance gaps, and recommend mitigation actions.
• Prepare products for formal assessments and certification, conduct internal reviews, and support customers with the integration of NXP safety products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• 7–15 years of experience in semiconductor product development with exposure to functional safety.
• Strong understanding of microcontroller and microprocessor architectures, IP and SoC-level safety mechanisms, and their use in automotive or industrial safety domains.
• Knowledge of ISO 26262 or IEC 61508, related development lifecycles, and safety work products.
• Hands-on experience with FTA, DFA, FMEDA, related tools such as Medini, safety audits, assessments, and certification activities.
• Experience developing Functional Safety Concepts and Technical Safety Concepts for at least two safety-compliant products, with the ability to collaborate in global cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Functional safety design and development experience at a Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive supplier.
• Broad semiconductor product development experience, including IP design, verification, DFT, physical implementation, tools, and methodologies.
• Familiarity with requirements management tools such as ELM7.
• Familiarity with ISO 26262 Part 6-compliant software development, embedded systems, and software development.
