Field Engineer (Automotive)

Location: On-site at the office in Leonberg, Germany. Monday–Sunday rota with weekend availability required; shifts are 06:00–15:00 or 13:00–22:00.

What you will do

• Perform on-site fault triage, diagnosis, and repairs for vehicle software and hardware issues.
• Respond to operational issues within the five-minute target to maintain fleet uptime.
• Follow approved diagnosis, repair, safety, compliance, and incident-management procedures.
• Collaborate with field engineers and cross-functional global teams, providing technical updates and handovers.
• Participate in on-call rotations and weekend coverage within a 24/7 global support network.
• Identify recurring vehicle issues and provide feedback to improve support efficiency, repair processes, uptime, and safety.

Requirements

• Full German driving licence required.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, software and hardware fault triage, and repair processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot quickly while meeting a five-minute response SLA.
• Clear communication and collaboration skills for technical updates and cross-location handovers.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools, Datadog, Mender, and JIRA.
• Fluent English and German required. Weekend work, on-call rotations, health checks, pre-employment checks, training, and ongoing drug/alcohol testing are required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in automotive, mechanical, electrical/electronic engineering, computer science, robotics, or a related discipline.
• ADAS on-road testing knowledge and safe vehicle-operation experience.
• High-voltage/EV certification and practical experience diagnosing EV systems.
• Experience in fleet operations, automotive systems, or ADAS technology.
