12 Months Contract - Java Backend Developer (Through an External Agency Payroll Provider)

What you will do

• Design, evolve, and operate distributed systems for mission-critical financial workloads.
• Develop high-performance backend services and APIs using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Optimize latency, asynchronous processing, I/O, and system performance through profiling, benchmarking, and load testing.
• Integrate financial platforms and third-party services with strong data integrity, security, auditability, and operational resilience.
• Build backend services for digital client channels providing wealth and investment capabilities through the e-banking platform.
• Design messaging and integration flows using JPA, JDBC templates, JMS, and event-driven patterns while maintaining code quality and CI/CD practices.

Requirements

• Singapore-based role with full-time availability.
• Senior-level experience designing, building, and operating mission-critical financial or distributed systems.
• Strong Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot experience, including Core Java, collections, JSON, and JDBC.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architecture, low-latency services, relational databases, JPA, and JMS.
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux, Bash scripting, OAuth2, API security, IAM concepts, and reliable software delivery practices.
• Ability to take ownership, solve performance and reliability problems, and collaborate with global colleagues in Zurich and Singapore.

Nice to have

• Previous financial industry experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
