Category Buyer (Air Systems)

Location: Tianjin, China; onsite role. Travel required 20%–40%, with possible evening meetings to support global stakeholders across multiple time zones.

What you will do

• Lead sourcing and procurement activities for air systems commodities, including turbochargers and related components.
• Develop and execute category strategies covering cost, quality, delivery, and supply continuity.
• Manage supplier relationships, supplier performance improvement, and supplier development initiatives.
• Lead commercial negotiations, contract management, cost reduction, and cost optimization activities.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Logistics teams on NPI and business requirements.
• Monitor market trends and supply chain risks while resolving supplier quality, delivery, and capacity issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Experience in supplier relationship management, commercial negotiations, and cross-functional manufacturing environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and influencing skills.
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chinese.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience sourcing engine components, air systems, turbochargers, powertrain components, or precision-machined parts.
• Knowledge of turbocharger technologies, air management systems, and related manufacturing processes.
• Experience managing suppliers across China and the Asia-Pacific region.
• Knowledge of cost modeling, Value Analysis/Value Engineering, APQP, PPAP, and supplier quality management systems.
• Certifications such as CPSM, CPIM, or CSCP, and experience supporting NPI sourcing programs.
