Director of RF Engineering (Space & Defense)

Location: Los Angeles, CA; on-site. The role requires eligibility to work on ITAR-controlled space technology as a U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident, protected individual, or another person eligible to obtain the necessary U.S. authorizations.

Estimated base salary: $225,000–$275,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead RF hardware engineers, senior individual contributors, and engineering leads across concurrent radio programs.
• Own delivery scope, schedules, resourcing, prioritization, and engineering execution.
• Make technical decisions on RF architecture and implementation trade-offs, including design reviews and failure investigations.
• Improve design review, verification, documentation, NPI, test infrastructure, and design reuse processes.
• Collaborate with FPGA and DSP, embedded software, mechanical and thermal, manufacturing, test, and supply chain teams.
• Own hiring, leveling, performance, career development, and technical representation with customers, prime contractors, and government programs.

Requirements

• 10+ years of RF or hardware engineering experience, including 4+ years leading engineering teams.
• Direct experience managing senior individual contributors, leads, or managers and retaining them.
• Hands-on RF hardware design experience with expertise in noise figure, linearity, frequency planning, and layout.
• Leadership experience in space, defense, or other high-consequence hardware programs with delivered results.
• Broad hardware knowledge covering digital and high-speed design, power, FPGA interfaces, mechanical and thermal constraints, and manufacturability.
• Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements for the role.

• Flight hardware programs delivered from design through on-orbit operation.
