Senior RF Hardware Engineer

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States. The role involves access to ITAR-controlled information and items; the successful candidate must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.

Base salary: $120,000–$200,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and develop RF and microwave hardware from UHF 200 MHz through Ka band 30 GHz.
• Develop phased-array antennas, amplifiers, filters, mixers, converters, and other RF electronics for satellite communications and software-defined radio systems.
• Design spacecraft PCBAs, including architecture, schematics, component selection, layout, bring-up, and debugging.
• Qualify designs through vibration, shock, thermal, and thermal-vacuum testing.
• Integrate RF designs into spacecraft systems with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership, subject-matter expertise, and mentorship to other engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related STEM field.
• 5+ years of microwave and RF engineering experience.
• Experience designing multilayer PCBAs and integrating commercial off-the-shelf RF integrated circuits using Altium or similar tools.
• Experience with RF circuit modeling and analysis tools such as Cadence AWR Microwave Office and Keysight ADS.
• Experience using RF test equipment, including vector network analyzers and spectrum analyzers.
• Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license under ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with space radiation environments and flight hardware.
• Experience with antenna and electromagnetic modeling tools, FPGA design for RF applications, software-defined radio hardware, phased arrays, or digital beamforming.
• Experience with SIGINT, electronic warfare, satellite telecommunications, RF digital communications, or DSP concepts.
