Full Stack Software Engineer II (Contract Role) (React)

Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; the description also references the Madison, Wisconsin campus, United States. Hybrid role with occasional in-person meetings and flexible work from home.

Base pay: CAD 51.62–77.42 per hour.

What you will do

• Develop, test, document, and maintain business-critical features for PlayStation consoles, websites, mobile applications, and Sony devices.
• Build digital commerce solutions for games, media content, subscriptions, and related services.
• Work with Product Owners, Product Managers, and engineers to capture requirements and define technical solutions.
• Write unit and component tests and improve code quality, performance, accessibility, and scalability.
• Deploy platform experiences through CI/CD pipelines, monitor releases, analyze telemetry, and respond to production data.
• Review pull requests and design plans, collaborate with internal and external engineers, and contribute to technical standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience instead of a degree.
• 2–3 years of experience building product experiences with UI technologies.
• Object-oriented development background and experience with JavaScript-based applications.
• Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to produce detailed design and development documentation.
• Commitment to robust, sustainable, and high-quality code.

Nice to have

• Experience with HTML, CSS, React, Angular, Jest, and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with Java, Spring Boot, GraphQL, REST APIs, and Docker.
• Knowledge of build pipelines, CI/CD standards, performance optimization, accessibility, and responsive design.
• Curiosity about AI-assisted development tools or developer-efficiency automation.
