TL;DR
Software Engineering Intern (Aerospace): Developing flight, embedded, and ground system software for space-based solar energy infrastructure with an accent on avionics, signal processing, and satellite bus systems. Focus on building simulation frameworks, debugging hardware-software interfaces, and contributing to mission operations infrastructure.

Location: Must be based in San Carlos, California (On-site)

Compensation: $1,800 weekly

hirify.global is an aerospace startup building modular, scalable satellite infrastructure to enable space-based solar energy distribution and high-performance orbital computing.

What you will do

  • Design and test software across flight, embedded, and ground systems, including avionics and satellite bus software.
  • Build signal processing pipelines and infrastructure for on-orbit GPU/TPU compute clusters.
  • Develop mission operations tooling, telemetry systems, and satellite health monitoring services.
  • Collaborate with hardware and systems engineering teams to define interfaces and validate end-to-end system behavior.
  • Create simulation and hardware-in-the-loop frameworks to validate software against spacecraft requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for ITAR export authorizations.
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in CS, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field.
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and computer architecture.
  • Proficiency in at least one systems or general-purpose language (C, C++, or Python).
  • Ability to work on-site in San Carlos, CA.

Nice to have

  • Experience with embedded/real-time systems (RTOS, bare-metal) or FPGA development (VHDL/Verilog).
  • Familiarity with flight software frameworks like cFS or F Prime.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • Prior project or internship experience in robotics, satellites, or avionics.
