Software Engineer - Vehicle Test (Aerospace)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Base salary: $130,000–$175,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design high-level software architecture for vehicle integration and test operations.
• Build scalable, reusable test code and infrastructure for multiple testing campaigns and vehicle generations.
• Integrate flight software with ground software and hardware-in-the-loop testbeds.
• Refine electrical engineering specifications and validate critical flight components.
• Support development from proposal through testing and flight, including on-call troubleshooting of flight and production issues.
• Guide major test campaigns, mentor junior engineers, and participate in recruiting and hiring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent knowledge.
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python or another high-level object-oriented scripting language.
• Experience designing software systems, test architectures, tooling, or frameworks.
• Experience with Linux and shell command-line tools.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with relational or time-series databases.
• Embedded systems experience.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
