Senior Software Engineer - Vehicle Test (Aerospace)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; onsite work in the lab and at the Northern California headquarters.

Base salary: $150,000–$215,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design high-level software architecture for vehicle integration and test operations.
• Build scalable testing infrastructure, tools, and reusable test code across vehicle generations and testing campaigns.
• Integrate flight software with ground software and hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure.
• Refine electrical engineering specifications and validate critical flight components across the development lifecycle.
• Guide large test campaigns, mentor junior engineers, and support recruiting and hiring.
• Participate in a rotating on-call shift to troubleshoot flight and production issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical knowledge.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python or another high-level object-oriented scripting language.
• Experience designing software systems, test architectures, tooling, or frameworks.
• Experience with Linux and shell command-line tools.
• U.S. Citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status required due to U.S. Government space technology export regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with relational or time-series databases.
• Embedded systems experience.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
