Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid

Salary: $221,000–$275,000 annual base compensation, plus potential equity.

hirify.global develops an AI Time platform that uses machine learning to capture, analyze, and optimize work time for professional services firms.

What you will do

• Work directly with customers to understand operational workflows, constraints, and technical environments.
• Design and implement production-grade systems across backend services, orchestration layers, integrations, internal tooling, and cloud infrastructure.
• Write high-quality code using TypeScript, APIs, data pipelines, and related platform technologies.
• Own deployments end to end, including discovery, architecture, implementation, testing, rollout, monitoring, and iteration.
• Debug complex issues involving customer systems, authentication, APIs, infrastructure, and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with Product and Core Engineering to turn field learnings into reusable platform capabilities.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building production software systems.
• Ability to work across backend engineering, infrastructure, integrations, and customer environments.
• Ability to independently architect and ship complex systems with minimal oversight.
• Experience with APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data-intensive applications.
• Production experience with LLMs, AI agents, retrieval systems, orchestration frameworks, or applied AI systems.
• Clear communication with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders, including direct customer collaboration.

Nice to have

• Startup or early-stage product-building experience.
• Experience deploying AI systems into enterprise environments.
• Systems engineering, infrastructure, enterprise integrations, authentication, security, or enterprise IT experience.
• Experience debugging production issues in unfamiliar codebases and shipping quickly under real-world constraints.
