Senior Software Engineer, Zero Trust Client (Windows)

Location: Hybrid in Austin or Seattle, United States. An in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub may be required at the offer stage.

Seattle-based hires: $185,000–$254,000 annual salary; compensation may vary by work location.

What you will do

• Build and maintain the Zero Trust desktop client that securely routes corporate device traffic to hirify.global’s global network.
• Implement high-performance networking code in Rust and platform-native languages and APIs across desktop platforms.
• Design major customer-impacting features with product managers and partner engineering teams.
• Improve code quality by building solid, testable, well-documented foundations.
• Debug complex issues spanning systems and team boundaries while meeting strict performance, quality, and security requirements.
• Mentor engineers, review code, and own technical designs and specifications end to end.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of Windows internals, including virtual memory, multithreading, process lifecycle, kernel programming, and system APIs.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, QUIC, HTTP/3, and proxying.
• Experience with lower-level languages such as Rust, C, or C++, plus familiarity with Swift, C#, and Python.
• Experience writing high-quality, testable, thoroughly tested, and well-documented code.
• Experience with multithreaded and asynchronous programming, network debugging, VPN technologies, and security protocols.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup in Austin or Seattle.

Nice to have

• Experience developing low-level Windows drivers, especially network drivers.
• Knowledge of the trade-offs between privacy, security, and anonymity.
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical standards through code review and knowledge sharing.
