Senior Mechanical Engineer - FEA Analysis & Test (Automotive)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; onsite office presence with occasional travel for testing required

Base salary: $150,000–$185,000 USD annually for the SF/Silicon Valley location, plus equity, bonuses, and benefits.

What you will do

• Perform assembly-level mechanical FEA simulations in ANSYS, including nonlinear static and dynamic analyses, modal, shock, and random vibration studies.
• Identify potential failure modes and provide actionable design guidance.
• Create analysis reports and present results to cross-functional teams.
• Conduct or supervise testing, correlate test data with FEA models, and write internal and external test procedures.
• Develop custom testing fixtures, maintain test equipment, and support data acquisition activities.
• Manage relationships with testing facilities, suppliers, and external partners while supporting field issue root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree, or equivalent experience, in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience analyzing mechanical systems with FEA in the automotive, aerospace, or related industries.
• Strong experience with ANSYS and/or SolidWorks, with fundamentals in solid mechanics, structural dynamics, and materials science.
• Strong CAD experience with SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, and/or Creo.
• Experience with data acquisition systems using accelerometers, thermocouples, and strain gauges.
• Additional residence, U.S. person, citizenship, or export-control eligibility requirements may apply to sensitive roles.

• Thermal simulation and/or CFD experience.
