Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (AI Hardware)

Location: United States, including the San Francisco Bay Area, Boulder, Virginia, and remote work across Eastern and Central Time Zones; onsite and remote arrangements are listed.

Salary: $200,000–$270,000 annually; other compensation ranges and equity-based packages are also listed.

hirify.global is partnering with a well-funded, VC-backed AI and networking hardware startup developing customized infrastructure solutions for hyperscalers under a Joint Development Model.

What you will do

• Develop chassis and line card designs that meet product, reliability, and scalability requirements.
• Perform 2D and 3D tolerance studies for complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Design parts using sheet metal, plastic, die-cast, molding, casting, and extrusion processes, considering EMI, safety, and compliance.
• Create Creo or other CAD models, PCB outlines, detailed drawings, BOMs, ECOs, and part numbers.
• Design liquid and forced-air cooling systems and support manufacturability with suppliers.
• Collaborate with hardware, thermal, CAD, manufacturing, and supplier teams on requirements, risks, connectors, and cable harnesses.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of mechanical design experience in telecom or data center hardware.
• Proficiency in Creo and SolidWorks.
• Experience with EIA, ETSI, and OCP rack standards.
• Experience with OSFP, QSFP-DD, and OSFP-XD connectors, backplane systems, cable harnesses, and cooling systems.
• Hands-on experience with rework tools and mock-up fabrication.

Nice to have

• Experience with NEBS testing and compliance.
