Robot Perception (Computer Vision)

Location: Wilmington, Massachusetts, USA; onsite at headquarters

Base pay: $32.00–$44.00 per hour

What you will do

• Research and experiment with traditional computer vision and deep learning methods for detection, classification, segmentation, pose estimation, and anomaly detection.
• Evaluate and benchmark perception methods on production data and design data preprocessing and postprocessing workflows.
• Develop SLAM, sensor fusion, state estimation, and probabilistic algorithms for robust robot localization.
• Deploy perception and robotics software to production robot hardware and validate performance through simulations and experiments.
• Identify applications of AI planning and machine learning for multi-robot optimization and solve complex real-world robotics problems.
• Document designs, code, experiments, and evaluations, and present results internally or at academic venues.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C++, including code development and Jupyter notebooks.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Familiarity with computer vision, OpenCV, image and video analysis, camera calibration, RGB and 3D sensors, and point cloud processing.
• Exposure to SLAM, sensor fusion, 3D pose representations, coordinate transforms, probabilistic graphical models, and Bayesian inference.
• Experience with Linux and command-line tools; familiarity with AWS or Azure, REST APIs, SQL-based data tools, or deployment tools is valuable.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker, ROS or ROS 2, Jetson, ONNX, VLMs, or Vision-Language-Action models.
• Publications at high-impact robotics, machine learning, or artificial intelligence conferences and journals.
