Principal Perception Architect (Physical AI)

Location: Irving, Texas (Dallas); onsite five days a week. Requires up to 25% domestic travel. Domestic relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $159,120.00–$258,570.00 per year

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end perception architecture for autonomous machines.
• Lead the Physical AI perception architecture team and define its roadmap and key technical decisions.
• Integrate sensor processing, object detection, semantic understanding, sensor fusion, tracking, 3D mapping, validation, and safety.
• Align perception architecture with robotics, edge platform, simulation, machine platform, validation, and safety teams.
• Ensure perception outputs are deployable on edge platforms, replayable in simulation, usable by downstream systems, and safe for machine behavior.
• Maintain output contracts, interface standards, decision records, and technical risk assessments.

Requirements

• Experience owning end-to-end perception architecture and leading technology development for enterprise-scale systems.
• Experience with deployed autonomous, robotic, vehicle, industrial, agricultural, construction, mining, or mobile machine systems.
• Strong understanding of camera, lidar, radar, stereo, ultrasonic, GNSS, localization, machine-state data, and multi-sensor integration.
• Ability to connect perception outputs with robotics, planning, control, simulation, edge runtime, machine platforms, safety analysis, and field validation.
• Typically 10+ years of progressive software engineering and architecture experience, with 8+ years of team leadership.
• Experience with C++ and Python; familiarity with validation, safety, Physical AI platforms, NVIDIA ecosystems, public cloud, and hybrid environments.
