TL;DR
Prod Tech 2 (Optics): Assembling, testing, and documenting optical components and modules in a high-tech manufacturing environment with an accent on precision tools, equipment calibration, and quality control. Focus on operating production equipment, identifying defects and process anomalies, and optimizing manufacturing processes across scheduled shifts.

Location: San Jose, California, United States; onsite production role. C Shift: 6:00 PM–6:00 AM, Sunday through Tuesday, plus every other Wednesday.

Salary: $21.65–$27.05 per hour, plus 15% shift differential pay.

What you will do

  • Perform manual and automated assembly of optical components and modules according to manufacturing instructions.
  • Conduct in-process and final testing using designated equipment and procedures.
  • Operate and calibrate production equipment, including test and data acquisition systems.
  • Document production activities, test data, and quality control information accurately.
  • Identify defects, process anomalies, and equipment malfunctions, and report them to supervisors or engineering staff.
  • Follow safety regulations, cleanroom protocols, and quality management requirements while contributing to process improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2–4 years of experience in manufacturing or production, preferably in optics, electronics, or a related high-tech industry.
  • Ability to work with small components and precision tools such as microscopes, calipers, and soldering irons.
  • Experience with test equipment and data acquisition systems, plus a basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and flexibility to work shifts and overtime.

Nice to have

  • Associate’s degree in electronics, optics, manufacturing, or another technical field.
  • Experience training junior production technicians.
