Staff Full Stack Engineer (HR Tech)

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; hybrid schedule with in-office work every Tuesday and Thursday

Salary: 190,000–230,000 CAD per year (140,000–170,000 USD per year), excluding discretionary bonus and equity

What you will do

• Build and deliver full-stack product features with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and peer engineers.
• Develop high-performance and high-availability applications for the hourly workforce platform.
• Design scalable distributed systems with a holistic architectural perspective.
• Apply test-driven development and contribute to reliable CI/CD practices.
• Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across Engineering, Product, GTM, and Customer Success.

Requirements

• 8–12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in one or more of Python, Java, PHP, or JavaScript.
• Strong understanding of programming principles, design patterns, and scalable system development.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL or MongoDB, and the trade-offs between them.
• Knowledge of caching mechanisms such as Redis or Memcached and familiarity with AWS.
• Effective spoken and written English communication is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with NextJS or other frontend technologies.
