News Anchor/MMJ, Telemundo T40 McAllen

Location: On-site full-time in McAllen, Texas, within the McAllen metro area. Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required. Evening, weekend, holiday, and extended-hours availability may be required.

What you will do

• Anchor daily newscasts across television, streaming, and digital platforms.
• Present breaking news and special coverage using strong ad-libbing skills and editorial judgment.
• Research, write, shoot, edit, and report original stories from the studio and field.
• Generate enterprise and community-focused story ideas, build local sources, and contribute to editorial meetings.
• Write and produce content for TV, digital, social media, and streaming platforms.
• Collaborate with producers, reporters, assignment editors, photographers, and news managers while maintaining a community and digital presence.

Requirements

• Fluency in Spanish and English with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
• At least 5 years of television anchor or reporter experience.
• Degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Excellent on-air presence, writing, news judgment, live reporting, and deadline decision-making skills.
• Ability to develop sources, work collaboratively, participate in public events, and work on-site in the McAllen metro area.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization and availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.

Nice to have

• Strong general assignment and enterprise reporting experience.
• Experience generating original stories, building sources, and connecting with the local community.
• Newsroom leadership or mentoring experience.
• Ability to move between the anchor desk, field reporting, breaking news, and digital platforms.
