Senior Gift Planning Officer

Location: New York, NY, United States; hybrid workplace with 15–20% domestic travel annually, for up to eight trips per year.

Salary: $125,000–$130,000 per year

What you will do

• Build, cultivate, and sustain long-term relationships with assigned donors and prospects.
• Secure and retain bequest intents, beneficiary designations, outright gifts, life income gifts, and endowments.
• Conduct due diligence on complex gifts involving non-cash assets, privately held stock, and property.
• Develop individualized stewardship plans, donor portfolios, and strategies for converting leads into completed gifts.
• Plan donor visits and domestic travel while meeting metrics for donor meetings and new gift commitments.
• Advise gift officers, affiliate staff, donor advisors, and organizational leaders on gift planning strategies and transactions.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree required; an MA/MS degree or additional certifications is preferred.
• 6+ years of development experience, including 3–5 years in gift planning.
• Working knowledge of legal and tax issues related to charitable giving, including income, estate, and federal gift tax.
• High proficiency with Google and Microsoft products, hands-on database experience, and experience using gift calculation software.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
• Availability to provide coverage during end-of-fiscal-year and end-of-calendar-year holiday periods.

• Advanced knowledge of gift acceptance policies, investments, and investment policy.
• Additional certifications or a graduate degree.
