Principal Software Development Engineer (AI Platform)

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Hybrid Flex Work requires spending at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners.

Salary: CAD 168,000–252,000 annual base salary, depending on work location, experience, skills, duties, and business needs. The role may also include a bonus and annual refresh stock grants.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain AI platform capabilities for tool calling, multi-agent architectures, planning, reasoning, action execution, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Build secure RESTful services and multi-tenant ML runtimes using Python and Kubernetes for fast inference at million-user scale.
• Translate product requirements into functional technical designs with cross-functional teams.
• Apply MLOps practices including automation, observability, CI/CD, and production deployment.
• Lead design reviews, code quality initiatives, testing strategies, and software engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with engineers and ML researchers while contributing to technical knowledge-sharing.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development engineering experience, including designing, developing, and deploying software solutions.
• 5+ years of production Python experience and a track record of shipping production systems.
• 5+ years of experience building scalable data pipelines and working with large-scale datasets.
• 5+ years of deploying production services to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, using Docker and Kubernetes for MLOps.
• Expertise in machine learning engineering, deployment, and MLOps, including generative models, LLMs, RAG, and AI agents.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, algorithms, performance optimization, database technologies such as PostgreSQL and Redis, API development, and comprehensive testing.
