Lead AI Engineer

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; remote-first with in-person collaboration at the downtown Toronto office approximately 1–2 times per month

Base salary: $200,000–$230,000 per year, excluding bonuses, equity, benefits, and other incentives.

What you will do

• Architect, build, and deploy AI-powered capabilities for conversational asset valuation, agentic workflows, intelligent data extraction, and AI-driven analytics.
• Lead technical direction for AI strategy, architecture, models, tooling, frameworks, infrastructure, and build-versus-buy decisions.
• Move AI concepts and experiments into scalable production products used for commercial real estate investment, valuation, and asset management.
• Establish AI and machine learning standards, experimentation frameworks, deployment approaches, governance, testing, and reliability practices.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Data, and Analytics teams to translate business needs into scalable AI solutions.
• Mentor engineers, guide outsourced engineering resources, and strengthen AI and machine learning capabilities across the organization.

Requirements

• Progressive experience building and deploying enterprise-grade AI and machine learning systems in production.
• Strong software engineering, systems design, scalability, reliability, and technical leadership skills.
• Hands-on experience with modern AI architectures and tooling, including transformers, prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, semantic search, fine-tuning, agentic systems, distributed training, or model optimization.
• Ability to influence architecture and technical decisions while remaining hands-on with code, experimentation, and solution development.
• Experience operating at Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Technical Lead, or a similar level is strongly valued.
• Based in Toronto, Canada, with availability for in-person office sessions approximately 1–2 times per month.
