Mechanical Engineering Technician (Mechanical Prototyping)

Location: Pullman, Washington, United States; onsite work with physical requirements including sitting and standing for at least 8 hours and lifting up to 35 pounds occasionally.

Salary: $35–$52/hour for Technician II or $40–$59/hour for Technician III.

What you will do

• Perform complex mechanical tests on mechanical hardware and electromechanical systems under the direction of a mechanical engineer.
• Build engineering prototypes and document prototype construction and engineering records.
• Design and assemble test fixtures, including vibration and force-test fixtures.
• Assist with evaluating new electronic and mechanical components.
• Support engineering staff and follow engineering change, station support, and work order processes.

Requirements

• United States citizenship required.
• Associate degree or at least four years of related experience.
• At least four years of experience testing and analyzing complex electromechanical or mechanical systems.
• Experience with 3D printing, machining, sheet metal, and plastic fabrication.
• Proficiency with modern test equipment and strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Ability to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities, and work cooperatively in a team environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with operating systems and computer equipment.
• Practical knowledge of three-phase power systems.
• Computer-aided design experience, preferably with SolidWorks.
