Principal Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hoboken, New Jersey, United States; hybrid work with primary in-office presence

Salary: $132,000–$264,000 annually, plus performance bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Lead platform engineering initiatives involving scalable infrastructure, reusable tooling, and cloud-native architectures.
• Build and deploy production-grade agentic AI solutions that automate complex business workflows.
• Architect AI/ML-enhanced applications and intelligent systems serving millions of users.
• Drive technical decisions across the full software development lifecycle, including design, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while promoting engineering excellence and innovation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, measure outcomes, and improve product and operational performance.

Requirements

• Extensive experience leading platform engineering and delivering scalable, reliable cloud-native architectures.
• Experience developing scalable agentic AI solutions, including agentic patterns, tool/API usage, guardrails, and evaluation pipelines.
• Strong AI/ML integration experience and proficiency with languages such as Python, Java, and C++.
• Ability to make architectural decisions and manage technical trade-offs across complex systems.
• Experience mentoring engineers and guiding technical teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 5 years of software engineering experience, or 7 years of relevant experience. A master’s degree with 3 years of experience is preferred.
