Director, Capacity Planning & Engineering

Location: United States; roles based at the San Mateo, California headquarters are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $399,420–$457,970 USD annual base pay

What you will do

• Lead a team of approximately 20 people across capacity planning, deployment, data center automation, and FinOps.
• Translate platform demand forecasts into hardware requirements and own end-to-end supply-demand matching.
• Oversee hardware procurement, physical installation, software provisioning, and new data center buildouts.
• Lead software engineering for DCIM systems and automate rack delivery, decommissioning, and capacity planning.
• Manage cloud spend optimization and on-premises versus cloud allocation decisions in partnership with Finance.
• Hire and develop engineers, managers, planners, and operations leaders while promoting production excellence, security, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, data center operations, or a related field, including at least 3 years in a director-level or senior leadership role.
• Deep expertise in capacity planning and supply-demand analysis for large-scale infrastructure environments.
• Hands-on familiarity with DCIM systems, data center automation, hardware procurement, and deployment execution.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams of software engineers, planners, and operations specialists.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex infrastructure decisions to C-suite audiences.
• For US-based roles, candidates must have appropriate United States work authorization; future H-1B sponsorship may not be supported.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI and GPU infrastructure, including NVIDIA next-generation hardware.
• Experience managing FinOps or large-scale cloud cost optimization.
• Background in hyperscale, colocation, or edge data center environments.
• Exposure to liquid cooling for high-density compute.
