Director, Forward Deployed Engineering

Location: United States, remote; requires up to 25% domestic travel to customer sites.

What you will do

• Hire, lead, and develop a team of Forward Deployed Engineers embedded across manufacturing sites and resource center functions.
• Partner with manufacturing, engineering services, and functional teams to identify operational inefficiencies and digital solution opportunities.
• Evaluate and prioritize solutions based on business impact, feasibility, and strategic alignment.
• Guide technical decisions, feature development, issue resolution, code reviews, and delivery execution.
• Define engineering standards, coding practices, reusable delivery assets, playbooks, documentation, and implementation approaches.
• Measure post-deployment solution impact and promote AI-assisted development tools for code generation, review, and testing automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of experience leading customer-facing software delivery, implementation, solution engineering, consulting, or technical delivery programs.
• 2+ years of people or technical leadership experience developing engineers, architects, consultants, or technical delivery teams.
• 3–5 years of hands-on software development, solution engineering, integration development, or full-stack development experience.
• Experience with DevSecOps, secure software development lifecycle methodologies, Agile or SAFe frameworks, Jira, and Confluence.
• Fluency in AI technologies applied to the software development lifecycle; manufacturing, industrial engineering, or engineering services experience is strongly preferred.
