Director, AI Infrastructure Operations

Location: Flexible living locations across the United States; Chicago office listed at 550 Van Buren. Travel as needed.

Base salary: $190,000–$265,000 per year. Total estimated compensation including annual incentive: $247,000–$344,500.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, develop, and manage the AI Infrastructure Operations team, including architects and engineers.
• Own the AI Operations roadmap, intake and prioritization process, decision forums, operating cadence, and adoption outcomes.
• Operate the governed enterprise AI capability, including Bedrock access, workload classification, sandboxing, application and agent registration, logging, cost visibility, and exception handling.
• Run the federated platform operating model with technology, security, privacy, compliance, legal, finance, architecture, product, analytics, consulting, and delivery organizations.
• Provide technical direction on architecture, sequencing, control-plane design, delivery trade-offs, and reusable AI platform patterns.
• Track operational readiness, governed access adoption, workload and cost visibility, knowledge enablement, agent safety, and delivery acceleration.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, platform leadership, cloud operations, AI enablement, digital transformation, or enterprise architecture.
• 3+ years of directly managing technical teams or leading cross-functional platform work.
• Demonstrated experience hiring, developing, coaching, and managing the performance of technical staff.
• Strong understanding of enterprise AI operations, including model access, data protection, cost attribution, auditability, workload classification, sandboxing, governed knowledge, and AI governance.
• Technical fluency with cloud platforms, AI platforms, platform engineering, or enterprise architecture.
• Strong ability to translate technical platform work into business outcomes, stakeholder decisions, funding needs, adoption measures, and clear written documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Amazon Bedrock, enterprise AI platforms, MLOps, LLMOps, platform engineering, or cloud governance.
• Experience with agentic AI orchestration platforms and AI operational workflows.
• Experience creating or operating intake, prioritization, governance, exception, or architecture review processes.
• Experience with regulated, client-sensitive, PHI, PII, or confidential-data environments.
• Experience leading platform adoption across federated business teams.
