Senior Systems Engineer (macOS)

Location: Chicago, IL; New York, NY; or San Francisco, CA, USA. The role follows an in-office schedule of four days per week with Fridays from home for employees near an office; a fully remote program is also available.

Salary: $152,000–$210,000 base annually, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the technical direction, operation, and continuous improvement of the Jamf Pro macOS management environment.
• Operate the AutoPkg software-delivery pipeline, including recipes, trust controls, packaging, deployment, patching, and disk encryption.
• Build reusable scripts, automations, integrations, and zero-touch provisioning workflows using Python, Swift, Bash, Go, and vendor APIs.
• Partner with Security to enforce device trust, adaptive authentication, least-privilege access, and Zero Trust or BeyondCorp controls.
• Implement compliance reporting, device inventory and health metrics, CIS benchmark assessments, and fleet-wide posture checks.
• Establish endpoint standards, lead cross-functional initiatives, mentor colleagues, and serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex issues.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience managing macOS at scale with enterprise MDM or comparable open-source tooling.
• Production experience building and operating AutoPkg recipes, overrides, trust controls, and automated promotion into an enterprise MDM environment.
• In-depth knowledge of Apple MDM, Configuration Profiles, Declarative Device Management, installers, packages, system extensions, security tooling, and unified logs.
• Proficiency in at least one of Python, Swift, Bash, or Go for automation and API integrations.
• Understanding of Zero Trust, BeyondCorp, endpoint posture, identity-based access, compliance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Ability to work from or near Chicago, New York, or San Francisco, USA, under the role’s office-based schedule; excellent written and verbal communication is required.

Nice to have

• Jamf Certified Admin 300/400 certification or equivalent expertise.
• Experience with Windows endpoint management, Intune, PowerShell, MSI packaging, WMI, or the Windows registry.
• Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform for SaaS or MDM configuration.
• Experience with osQuery, CrowdStrike, endpoint telemetry, EDR, or Okta device-trust integrations.
