Senior IT Operations Engineer

Location: Emeryville, California, United States. Ongoing authorization to work in the United States is required; employer sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $167,000–$205,900 USD per year, plus equity participation.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and manage company-wide IT infrastructure, including identity, access, endpoints, networks, cloud environments, storage, and backups.
• Administer Google Workspace, Slack, Rippling, Jira, user accounts, permissions, onboarding, offboarding, and device provisioning workflows.
• Deploy and maintain endpoint security, MDM, VPN, MFA, Meraki networking, VLAN segmentation, firewalls, and physical access controls.
• Manage GCP and Oracle Cloud environments, Synology NAS storage, backup systems, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Prepare, deploy, inventory, patch, and troubleshoot Mac and Windows workstations, Microsoft Office, and conferencing equipment.
• Manage software procurement, licensing, compliance, technical support, and infrastructure documentation while supporting SOC 2 Type 2 activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology and 8+ years of experience in a similar IT Operations role.
• At least 2–3 years of experience in a high-growth startup or solo IT environment, including transitioning from an external MSP or independently managing IT.
• Strong experience with Google Workspace, Rippling or a comparable HRIS/IT platform, MDM, endpoint protection, Meraki networking, VPN, and MFA.
• Working knowledge of GCP, Oracle Cloud, Synology NAS, backup and disaster recovery, Mac and Windows deployment, Microsoft WSUS, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience supporting SOC 2 Type 2 evidence collection, log records, review, and reporting processes.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required, and employer visa sponsorship will not be provided.

Nice to have

• CompTIA, Meraki/Cisco, Google Workspace Administrator, or Microsoft certifications.
• Experience in a fast-growing or multi-office environment.
• Scripting and automation experience with Bash, PowerShell, or similar tools.
• Collaborative problem-solving experience with the ability to present multiple solutions to stakeholders.
