Director, Fund Accounting (Private Markets)

Location: Hybrid in New York City, Boston, Massachusetts, or Union, New Jersey

Salary: $115,000–$210,000 USD in New Jersey and New York; $115,000–$215,000 USD in Massachusetts per year, plus possible discretionary bonus and/or equity awards.

What you will do

• Lead teams delivering fund administration and accounting services for private markets clients.
• Serve as the primary liaison for assigned clients and coordinate with auditors, law firms, tax advisors, and other external parties.
• Review fund, offering, subscription, side-letter, and investment management documents to apply fund terms accurately.
• Review transaction documentation, work papers, capital activity, investment activity, accruals, valuations, management fees, investor allocations, capital accounts, calls, and distributions.
• Create, maintain, and review distribution waterfall and carried-interest models, and manage year-end audit processes.
• Improve operating processes, support business analysis, RFPs, fee models, financial analysis, client implementations, and onboarding.

Requirements

• 10+ years of private equity or real assets fund accounting experience.
• 3+ years of experience supervising, training, delegating, and managing large teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and other comprehensive bases of accounting, with an emphasis on investment partnerships.
• Experience with hiring and termination decisions, staff development, project management, client relationship management, and independent task completion.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong communication, organization, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
