Sr. Medical Coding Specialist (Oncology)

What you will do

• Review daily charges for oncology visits, diagnoses, radiation oncology services, and surgical procedures.
• Audit physician, APP, and clinical oncology documentation for accurate CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifier coding.
• Enter charges into EMR and practice management systems and determine appropriate place of service and E/M medical decision-making levels.
• Serve as a senior coding resource by answering questions and resolving complex coding cases in line with current guidelines and payer requirements.
• Support payer and compliance audits by compiling, organizing, and reviewing chart documentation.
• Train and onboard new coders on workflows, coding standards, systems, and escalation processes.

Requirements

• CPC, CCS-P, or another professional coding certification.
• At least 4 years of medical coding experience.
• At least 2 years of experience conducting chart audits or assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes through documentation review in a physician practice or hospital environment.
• At least 2 years of experience with medical oncology, radiation, surgery coding, and E/M leveling.
• Knowledge of coding regulations, Medicare and Medicaid programs, insurance policies, anatomy, medical terminology, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, payer sites, databases, patient scheduling tools, EMR, and other medical information systems.
