Senior Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in New York City or San Francisco, United States

Salary: $220K–$235K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead engineering teams working across payments, credit, compliance, and brand strategy.
• Define roadmaps, scope ambiguous work, set priorities, and manage delivery through the team.
• Partner with product, compliance, legal, capital markets, and solutions engineering on strategic decisions.
• Use AI tools to investigate codebases, assess feasibility, and clarify complex technical work.
• Hire, develop, retain, and manage engineers, including Staff-level individual contributors.
• Own engineering outcomes while supporting new financial products, brand partnerships, and platform growth.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering management experience building, developing, and retaining strong engineering teams.
• Experience leading through rapid growth, ambiguity, or significant technical change.
• Strong engineering background with maintained technical credibility and hands-on engagement or use of modern AI tools.
• Experience managing Staff-level engineers and supporting senior engineers’ growth.
• Experience with financial systems, distributed infrastructure, regulated environments, or similarly complex technical domains.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to scope work, set priorities, and drive delivery through the team.

Nice to have

• Experience with full-stack, backend, or mobile engineering teams.
• Backend experience with Go, MySQL, DynamoDB, Temporal, Kafka, Kubernetes, or AWS.
