Senior Software Engineer (Federal)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States; hybrid work with in-person onboarding

Salary: $165,000–$227,000 annual base salary

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain backend services and frontend interfaces for government-focused identity governance products.
• Architect cloud and on-premises infrastructure across high-compliance security baselines.
• Support operations in disconnected, air-gapped, and classified defense environments.
• Maintain security controls, audit readiness, continuous monitoring, reliability, observability, documentation, and CI/CD practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, Product, and Design teams to deliver secure, interoperable, and scalable customer outcomes.
• Mentor peer engineers and raise the team's technical standards.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold or be able to obtain and maintain a high-level government security clearance, such as Secret, Top Secret, or SCI.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience delivering enterprise cloud software.
• Strong coding experience at scale with Java, Python, or TypeScript, plus REST or gRPC APIs.
• Experience with UI automation using Playwright, Selenium, or an equivalent tool.
• Experience with CI/CD, containers such as Docker and Kubernetes, and a major cloud platform.
• Expertise in scalable backend architecture, modern web technologies, authentication, authorization, and secure handling of sensitive data.

Nice to have

• Experience with restricted federal infrastructure, FedRAMP, DoD Impact Levels, or air-gapped systems.
• Knowledge of air-gap architectures, zero-trust frameworks, strict access controls, and secure data transfer mechanisms.
• Experience with Identity Governance and Administration, IAM, SSO, SCIM, directory integration, or privileged access.
• Compliance experience involving SOX, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or FedRAMP.
