Senior Software Engineer (PHP/Vue)

Location: Hybrid in Cramlington, United Kingdom, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office

What you will do

• Own ambiguous technical problems, identify root causes, and drive decisions aligned with the wider technical direction.
• Deliver features, platform improvements, and infrastructure initiatives across multiple concurrent projects.
• Champion code reviews, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and other engineering best practices.
• Support the adoption of new engineering tools, processes, and ways of working.
• Mentor less experienced engineers through pairing, code reviews, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience delivering full-stack applications with PHP and Symfony or Laravel, with Vue front ends.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript, SCSS, Twig, and comparable front-to-back frameworks.
• Solid AWS experience, including EC2, EKS or containers, and RDS or similar services.
• Background in DevOps, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
• Ability to work autonomously across shifting priorities, make technical decisions, and communicate with influence.
• Experience mentoring or supporting the development of other engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Mimir.
• Experience with Rails, Django, .NET, React, Angular, or other comparable frameworks.
• Experience modernising legacy and end-of-life systems incrementally.
