TL;DR
TACOM (WVA): Mechanical Engineer (Contingency) (HVAC/Infrastructure): Designing and managing mechanical infrastructure projects for a U.S. Army installation with an accent on HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, utilities, and industrial systems. Focus on preparing engineering documentation and cost estimates, overseeing construction and commissioning, resolving complex facility issues, and ensuring operational readiness and regulatory compliance.

Location: Watervliet, United States; onsite at a military installation. U.S. citizenship is required, and the position requires the ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Salary: $102,400–$153,600 annually

What you will do

  • Plan, design, and manage mechanical engineering projects for facility infrastructure, industrial operations, and mission requirements.
  • Develop and review designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, technical reports, and cost estimates.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, execution, construction, maintenance, testing, and commissioning.
  • Assess HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, compressed air, utility distribution, and industrial systems for reliability and operational readiness.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, technical documentation, and design modifications.
  • Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, maintenance personnel, regulatory agencies, and installation leadership while mentoring junior staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and standards for facility and industrial systems.
  • Experience with HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, utility distribution, and industrial equipment.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing engineering designs, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, and International Building Code/Mechanical Code requirements.
  • Experience supporting engineering or construction projects and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite.
