Lead Site Commissioning Engineer (High-Voltage Substations)

Location: Orlando, Florida, United States. The role involves on-site commissioning activities, and applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

What you will do

• Develop and execute commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, readiness activities, energization processes, and isolation/PTW processes for high-voltage substations.
• Lead testing and commissioning of transformers, GIS, circuit breakers, protection relays, SCADA systems, and control panels.
• Supervise and mentor commissioning teams while maintaining safety, quality, and technical excellence.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with project management, engineering, OEMs, construction teams, and client representatives.
• Maintain commissioning documentation, test reports, NCRs, RAMS, and as-built records while ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
• Promote safe work practices and hirify.global’s Zero Harm culture during high-voltage site operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 5 years of experience leading site commissioning activities, including high-voltage substation commissioning.
• Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, protection schemes, and commissioning procedures.
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage equipment, grid operations, and substation controls.
• Understanding of OSHA requirements, environmental compliance, and high-voltage site safety practices.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization is required.
