Principal Biologist (Oncology)

Location: Paris, France; hybrid workplace with up to two remote days per week. hirify.global also has an office in London.

What you will do

• Identify, validate, and select biological targets aligned with unmet medical needs.
• Provide biological insight during early project ideation and guide programs toward proof of concept.
• Design, implement, and maintain screening cascades for efficient compound evaluation.
• Partner with multidisciplinary project teams to identify risks and support data-driven prioritization.
• Manage external CROs, define experimental strategies, and ensure high-quality decision-enabling datasets.
• Integrate biology with medicinal chemistry, computational modeling, engineering, and platform teams.

Requirements

• PhD in biological sciences, such as pharmacology, molecular biology, chemical biology, or biochemistry, or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong experience in small-molecule drug discovery from hit identification through candidate nomination.
• Typically around 8 or more years of industry experience in early-stage drug discovery and project ideation.
• Demonstrated expertise in oncology and/or immuno-oncology.
• Hands-on wet-lab experience and a solid understanding of experimental biology.
• Ability to apply rigorous, data-driven thinking in multidisciplinary environments.

• Experience with CRO-based or highly outsourced R&D models.
• Experience developing innovative drug discovery strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Project or portfolio management experience across complex cross-functional teams.
• Experience anticipating and mitigating scientific and strategic risks.
• Familiarity with translational biology and biomarker strategies.
