Senior Scientist (Process Chemistry)

Location: Groton, Connecticut, United States; on-premise laboratory work. Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the United States. U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available.

Annual base salary: $93,600–$156,000, plus a 12.5% bonus target and eligibility for a share-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable synthetic processes for drug candidates, including small molecules, peptides, lipids, and other complex synthetic molecules.
• Perform laboratory experimentation and develop robust synthetic routes using innovative chemistry, new technologies, and statistical experimental design.
• Interpret analytical data to plan experiments and document work in electronic laboratory tools.
• Collaborate with chemists, analysts, engineers, technologists, and manufacturing specialists on multidisciplinary projects.
• Prepare technical transfer documentation for internal and third-party manufacturing facilities.
• Contribute to process chemistry initiatives, continuous improvement, and the advancement of technology and workflows.

Requirements

• PhD in Organic Chemistry, or expected completion within nine months; industrial experience is not required.
• Advanced knowledge of modern synthetic methodology, including asymmetric synthesis, green chemistry, catalysis, and physical organic chemistry.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to influence multidisciplinary work.
• General knowledge of drug development and the pharmaceutical industry.
• Ability to work in a laboratory, stand for extended periods, use a computer, apply scientific judgment, and analyze data.
• Permanent U.S. work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with peptide and lipid synthesis, route development, scale-up, purification strategies, and cross-functional pharmaceutical R&D collaboration.
• Experience using analytical tools, computational and statistical methods, and automated laboratory technologies.
