Director, Cost Engineering

Location: Singapore or Billund, with hybrid work averaging 3 days per week in the office. Relocation support can be provided.

What you will do

• Define and execute the global Cost Engineering strategy, capability roadmap, governance model, and talent plan.
• Lead a team of Cost Engineers across procurement categories and deploy resources according to business value and risk.
• Embed cost transparency, should-costing, value engineering, and design-for-cost methods into sourcing and category management.
• Build cost-driver models, automated market forecasting dashboards, category metrics, and ongoing market monitoring processes.
• Partner with Procurement, Finance, category leaders, and suppliers on sourcing, RFQ validation, cost challenges, supplier productivity, and performance programs.
• Lead digital costing platforms, analytics tools, and AI- and data-enabled cost engineering capabilities.

Requirements

• Qualified Engineer with at least 10 years of total experience in Procurement, Finance, or Supply Chain and at least 8 years in Cost Engineering.
• Successful multi-year experience in product development or cost engineering, with subject matter expertise in one or more procurement categories such as packaging, plastics, or electronics.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, facilitation, executive reporting, and insight-generation skills.
• Proven cross-functional leadership, change leadership, and experience with global or regional programs.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders, challenge management thinking constructively, and work in an entrepreneurial, solution-focused manner.
• Flexibility for global travel.

Nice to have

• Experience developing AI- or agent-based costing methods.
• Experience leading an enterprise-wide global transformation program.
