Research & Development Intern (Chemical Engineering/Paper Science)

Location: Neenah, Wisconsin, United States; 12-week onsite internship starting in May 2026.

Salary: $22–$26 per hour, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Support research and development projects focused on process efficiency, cost savings, new business development, and technology advancement.
• Work with scientists to identify and evaluate paper properties, technical characteristics, and quality issues.
• Participate in real-time production activities, the mill environment, and new customer trials.
• Attend leadership meetings, report findings, and complete assigned follow-up tasks.
• Modify or create standard operating procedures with leadership.
• Deliver project work assigned by R&D management.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a degree program with a concentration in Paper Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or another Engineering discipline.
• At least two full years of completed coursework; three years preferred.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA in the academic field of study preferred.
• Solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Ability to analyze information, synthesize and communicate findings, identify opportunities, and collaborate effectively in a team setting.

Nice to have

• Previous internship experience.
• Three full years of completed coursework.
