Platform Engineer (OpenShift/Kubernetes) - TS/SCI

Location: Herndon, Virginia, United States; requires 90% or as-needed work in a SCIF with onsite after-hours support

Salary: $165,000–$215,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift clusters across on-premise and hybrid-cloud environments.
• Operate multi-site OpenShift platforms and NetApp-backed storage services, including lifecycle management, upgrades, Operators, node pools, ingress, registries, and troubleshooting.
• Build CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code workflows, platform automation, and self-service capabilities for containerized application delivery.
• Monitor platform performance, availability, capacity, and security; respond to incidents and optimize system reliability.
• Develop operational runbooks and collaborate with storage, network, security, development, and operations teams.
• Maintain compliance with security and governance standards while supporting mission-critical workloads in secure or disconnected environments.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with a CI polygraph are required; the CI polygraph must be held or obtainable.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, systems administration, DevOps, infrastructure, or a related technical field; equivalent experience is accepted.
• Production experience operating Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and supporting its cluster lifecycle.
• Experience with infrastructure automation using Ansible, Terraform, scripting, or GitOps, plus CI/CD tools such as Argo CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, incident response, capacity management, and operational runbook development.
• Willingness to work 90% or as needed in a SCIF, including some onsite on-call or after-hours customer support.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating OpenShift with NetApp ONTAP, Astra Trident, NFS, iSCSI, or CSI-based storage.
• Security hardening and compliance experience in restricted, disconnected, or classified environments.
• Strong Python, Bash, or Go skills and familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of networking, security, Linux administration, hybrid or multi-cloud architectures, and SRE practices.
• Experience with geospatial technology, military or intelligence environments, IC PED systems, or CompTIA Security+.
