Data Product Counsel (AI)

What you will do

• Serve as the primary legal partner for pre-training, data, agentic, and search-focused product teams.
• Advise on data acquisition and use for AI training, including intellectual property, privacy, licensing, and AI regulation.
• Design data integrity standards, provenance controls, usage policies, review processes, and escalation pathways.
• Partner with product, research, engineering, infrastructure, safety, commercial, and compliance teams on responsible model releases.
• Advise on partnerships, customer transactions, data and model collaborations, and research arrangements.
• Monitor legal developments in the US, EU, UK, and other jurisdictions and translate them into practical guidance.

Requirements

• J.D. and active bar membership or in-house registration in at least one US jurisdiction.
• Approximately 10+ years of product counseling and technology-sector legal experience.
• Experience with AI, cloud computing, semiconductors, advanced computing, cybersecurity, infrastructure, data centers, or similarly sensitive technologies.
• Strong knowledge of product, regulatory, intellectual property, commercial, privacy, and AI-related legal risks.
• Experience advising on US and international legal, regulatory, and litigation matters involving AI products and data use.
• Ability to explain complex legal requirements to engineers, researchers, executives, and other non-lawyer operators.

• Experience at a high-growth technology company, AI lab, cloud provider, or other technology business.
• Experience with open-source access technology.
• Experience addressing agentic or search capabilities in AI development.
