Patient Access Specialist - Part Time (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at Carilion - Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia; limited to individuals residing and authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform admitting and pre-registration duties for hospital patients.
• Assign medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, process physician orders, and complete compliance checks.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, select insurance plan codes, support point-of-service collections, and help maintain clean claims.
• Explain consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient forms; obtain signatures and distribute required documentation.
• Operate the telephone switchboard and provide compassionate service to patients, guarantors, physicians, and internal contacts.
• Audit accounts, correct documentation issues, and provide statistical reporting to Patient Access leadership.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Ability to work onsite at Carilion - Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.
• CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
