Lead Mechanical Engineer

Location: New Jersey major market; hands-on manufacturing or industrial environment

Base salary: $109,000–$164,000 annually, plus a performance-related bonus plan.

What you will do

• Lead the design, analysis, and development of mechanical systems and components from concept through production.
• Apply engineering principles to solve complex technical challenges and improve product performance.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to implement designs effectively.
• Support testing, validation, documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for product and process issues.
• Drive continuous improvement focused on quality, cost efficiency, and production reliability.
• Support facility expansions, capital projects, shutdown planning, commissioning, technical standards, and engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; a master’s degree is a plus.
• 10+ years of experience in facility design, plant engineering, mechanical engineering, or related roles.
• Facility mechanical engineering experience and comfort working in a hands-on manufacturing or industrial environment are required.
• Experience with mechanical design, manufacturing processes, engineering analysis, CAD tools, and software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or FEA.
• Knowledge of GD&T, machining tolerances, tooling processes, CNC, lathe operations, manufacturing environments, and plant operations.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, collaboration, technical leadership, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in chemical, specialty chemical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, laboratory, pilot plant, or manufacturing facilities.
• Familiarity with utilities systems such as HVAC, steam, compressed air, and piping.
• Knowledge of ASTM, ASME, and other industry standards and quality systems.
• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
