Senior Application Engineer (AI & Java)

Location: Bratislava, Slovakia; hybrid

Base salary: €3,800–€6,300 per month for a full-time role, plus performance-based variable compensation.

What you will do

• Develop business features and AI-enabled solutions for large user communities.
• Design and integrate AI capabilities with Java- and Spring Boot-based enterprise applications.
• Apply AI-assisted development, testing, code review, documentation, and other workflows across the SDLC.
• Review pull requests and maintain consistency, security, maintainability, and quality standards.
• Create architecture diagrams and technical designs, and contribute to technology decisions.
• Collaborate with requirements engineers, QA specialists, product owners, and application engineers while integrating messaging, BPMN, logging, telemetry, and AI platforms.

Requirements

• Expert knowledge of Java and Spring Boot across the full software delivery lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience building or integrating AI-enabled solutions into enterprise systems.
• Practical experience with AI-driven development workflows and tools across the SDLC.
• Experience with Microsoft Foundry or Palantir Foundry and public cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.
• Ability to work effectively with large, established codebases and maintain strong engineering, architecture, and quality standards.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with insurance domain concepts and business processes.
• Experience mentoring junior developers and contributing to team growth.
