Underground Electrician

Location: Haile Gold Mine, South Carolina, United States; onsite work in underground and operational mining environments

What you will do

• Install, maintain, inspect, and repair underground electrical systems for power distribution, lighting, communications, and controls.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults on fixed plant and mobile mining equipment.
• Maintain substations, switchgear, transformers, VFDs, motor control systems, and related infrastructure.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, breakdown response, and emergency repairs to improve equipment reliability.
• Complete lockout/tagout, grounding, testing, work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance records.
• Work with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams on production, safety, audits, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent trade qualification.
• At least 10 years of electrician experience, preferably in underground mining or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of underground mining electrical systems, regulations, electrical diagnostics, and fault finding.
• Experience with medium-voltage systems, PLCs, VFDs, and mining mobile equipment is preferred.
• Ability to work with low-, medium-, and high-voltage systems, in confined spaces, and in physically demanding underground conditions.
• Ability to work onsite in active mining and processing areas, access uneven terrain and elevated work areas, and use mandatory PPE.
