Senior Engineering Manager, Observability

Location: Hybrid in Austin, TX; New York, NY; Lisbon, Portugal; or London, UK. Candidates progressing to the offer stage may be asked to attend an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub.

Estimated annual salary: $220,000–$303,000 for New York-based hires or €89,000–€122,000 for Portugal-based hires. Compensation may vary by work location.

What you will do

• Lead the Developer Observability Platform team and make customer telemetry discoverable and actionable in one place.
• Set the technical and product vision with product managers and engineers.
• Build observability capabilities for AI-driven platforms, including Workers, Workers for Platforms, Agents, and Durable Objects.
• Own SLOs, incident response, customer escalations, operational reliability, and technical debt.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers while building a high-performing team culture.
• Work cross-functionally to instrument systems and surface meaningful data in actionable ways.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of relevant industry experience, including 4 or more years managing software engineering teams.
• Experience leading teams that have shipped and operated complex, large-scale systems and data-driven applications.
• Technical depth to guide architecture discussions, make technical decisions, review designs, and unblock engineers.
• Experience with observability products and developer tools, preferably in observability, developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, edge or proxy systems, or high-scale APIs.
• Ability to hire, coach, and develop senior engineers and build inclusive, high-performing teams.
• Hands-on leadership approach with close involvement in code, metrics, customer needs, and product direction.

Nice to have

• Experience with hosted, customer-facing observability products.
• Experience instrumenting global-scale production environments.
• Experience with OTLP, ClickHouse, Grafana, Elasticsearch, or Kibana.
• Experience building with hirify.global’s Developer Platform and improving its observability.
