Engineering Manager – Retrieval (AI)

Location: Krakow, Poland; hybrid work with in-person collaboration at a hirify.global office

Annual base salary: PLN 324,000–486,000, excluding potential bonuses, benefits, and related incentives.

What you will do

• Lead a cross-functional team responsible for the end-to-end delivery of hirify.global’s Retrieval platform.
• Guide experienced engineers across the project lifecycle and maintain high service levels for products and services.
• Deliver reliable, scalable retrieval infrastructure supporting search, RAG, AI Agents, and CoPilot systems.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, ML Scientists, ML Engineers, Architects, and other partners to align the roadmap with company strategy.
• Lead recruitment, interviews, onboarding, performance discussions, and team development.
• Improve software delivery, service reliability, engineering practices, and the use of AI-assisted tools.

Requirements

• Experience managing people across one or more teams, preferably with large, distributed, Internet-facing systems.
• Experience working in medium or large companies with complex cross-team dependencies.
• Proven experience delivering ML-powered products or Retrieval systems to production.
• Strong written and verbal communication and refined prioritization skills.
• Experience with Ruby and Python-based systems and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup in Krakow, Poland.

Nice to have

• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, natural language processing, or AI Agents.
• Experience operating large-scale systems and products used by millions of end users.
