Infrastructure Engineering Director (AWS/Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Set infrastructure strategy and standards across AWS, Outposts, Kubernetes, networking, observability, disaster recovery, and cost governance.
• Build and scale the infrastructure engineering organization, establish career paths, and develop engineers into senior and leadership roles.
• Own disaster recovery strategy, RTO/RPO definitions, failover testing, SLOs, SLIs, and organizational readiness.
• Lead operational discipline through runbooks, change management, incident response, post-mortems, and continuous improvement.
• Manage vendors, cloud spend, capacity planning, contracts, and the cloud adoption roadmap.
• Partner with engineering and product leadership on platform direction, build-versus-buy decisions, roadmap priorities, and infrastructure sustainability.

Requirements

• Significant experience leading platform engineering, SRE, or infrastructure organizations.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes architecture, operations, scaling, cluster design, workload isolation, and multi-cluster management.
• Strong hands-on AWS experience with VPCs, networking, IAM, EC2, EKS, cost management, and hybrid environments including Outposts.
• Experience defining infrastructure strategy, operational standards, disaster recovery, RTO/RPO, SLOs, SLIs, alerting, and incident response frameworks.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and proficiency in at least one modern programming language for scalable tooling and automation.
• Strong analytical, communication, mentoring, and stakeholder-influence skills, with a focus on reliability, cost optimization, and long-term platform sustainability.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kong Mesh, Istio, Linkerd, Envoy-based systems, or other service mesh platforms.
• Hands-on AWS Outposts or hybrid cloud experience.
• Experience operating infrastructure in regulated industries with strict security, auditability, segmentation, and uptime requirements.
• CNCF Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKS, or CKAD.
• Familiarity with Datadog, Prometheus, and distributed tracing systems.
